AMHERST, N.H. -- An Amherst woman plans to travel from New Hampshire to Georgia at a painstaking 35 mph to raise money for breast cancer research. Barbara Landry said she will ride 1,100 miles on her scooter in honor of her sister-in-law, Dale Burns Golinski, who died from breast cancer last year. Landry and her mother are also both cancer survivors. If everything goes as plans, Landry's "Trails For Dale" will end on Aug. 9, the anniversary of the day Golinski passed away."Part of it was about bringing Dale with me, journeying with her and spreading joy," Landry said.Because of the scooter's slow speed, the trip will be made on back roads. A friend joined Landry to the Massachusetts border, and Landry's mother, aunt and, eventually, two children will ride nearby in a minivan, communicating by walkie-talkie.On the back of the scooter is a flag and a photo of Golinski."Whether it's hot, whether it's cold -- it's all about staying joyful and appreciative every day," Landry said. "It's the inspiration Dale gave us."
